Background: Cancer-associated fibroblast(CAF) is a type of tumor microenvironment which explain about tumor proliferation, tumor invasion and metastasis. More studies say that CAF has an important role in molecular pathology of cholangiocarcinoma(CCA). Perihilar CCA is the most common type which usually end up with poor survival time. We hypothesized the CAF is a factor of the disease progression.
Objective: To evaluate CAF infiltration in perihilar CCA and association between CAF infiltration and survival rate.
Conclusions: CAF is one of prognostic factors of perihilar cholangiocarcinoma. The amount of stromal fibroblasts is associated with poor survival rate of patients. We suggest that could be useful for clinical evaluation.
